Thanks.
Thanks.
They wanted to show that they could race even more negative than the men.
I'm wondering what was worse: the men's NCAA 1500m, or this race you just mentioned.
90 something degrees hot, humid, windy.
its 100F + on the track
Seriously I just don't get it. Do they all think they can run sub 60 on the last lap or something?
If you don't think that was a great race then you're f*cking crazy. Track cycling might be more to your taste.
Handed it to Moser and Cain. Bad tactics...

I asked the questions because I did not see the race.

no one thinks that was a great race. 2:40 at 800 meters? Rowbury blew it. She doesn't have the kick to sit there and wait for the final lap. She should have gone with 700 to go.
This is why diamond league has pacemakers. No one would watch this crap on a regular basis. Great for kickers though.

That was track cycling - walk around the track for most of it and sprint in the end.
Here is the all-time list of USA National Champs in the 1500:
http://www.usatf.org/statistics/USA-Champions/USAOutdoorTF/women/1500m.aspxOnly faster than the 1st and 3rd ones ever held (ignoring the 1968 race held at altitude Echo Summit Pass). Everyone in that race except for Cory McGee should be embarrassed.
Same thing worked for Cain and Moser at the US Indoors (mile). 1500 at the Olympics was faster, but similar. There's some interesting group psychology going on that can be exploited again and again.
Rowbury has often depended on a strong last lap to move up in the standings (e.g. London last year). Uceny's success always came in the last 300. I remember Wurth-Thomas making a bold move but getting reeled by Uceny in a couple of years ago in this championship. This year Jenny Simpson has been willing to push the pace, but her World Championship was a last second sprint past the leaders in a relatively slow race. It's hard to explain why someone like Katie Mackey didn't get out front the way she did at the Oxy. Too hot maybe. But these habits seem to be hard to break and Salazar has exploited them beautifully this year Indoors and Outdoors. Plus there seems to be a changing of the guard with enough evidence to say that right now Moser and Cain are the strongest runners out there, excepting Simpson.
Why not? Why run 1500 when you can jog 11 and run 4?
This is RACING 101. Just follow the script. Grades are marked on a curve.
Everyone thinks they can kick...really dumb
I think that's a pretty good analysis. Rowbury has been strong in a last lap but only off a honest paced race. This was not. I'm guessing she had better strength than anyone in this race. She could have turned it into a time trial and probably won it.
I don't know what's wrong with Uceny but she has had a terrible year. The London thing has been a disaster. She talks about her great workouts but you sure wouldn't know it from her poor racing.
It's too bad.
I did think it was exciting and the best athletes won. It looked like there was a lot of pushing and shoving in there. And Cain was on the receiving end of some of it.
If Jenny Simpson had been in there it would have been a different race. With a different outcome too.

And Martinez as well. It would have been interested to see how this race would have played out with both of them in there.
Fans should get their money back...........[quote]stove top stuffing wrote:
