At european team championships, 14:10 for 5k but pretty impressive speed no?

No, not impressive at all but not bad either. Just an ok time for 400m.
only 14:10
sucks

Even running 14:10 no other runner can run even close to 50.89 on the last lap at the moment.
Very windy day as well
Considering all of the people who went crazy when Gebrihiwet closed in 53, I'd say that's a very impressive lap to close in.
Very windy conditions apparently
Mo said that Salazar wanted him to take it easy then turn it on for the last lap. GFY
Windy conditions and no competition on the last lap, could of gone sub 50.

Could you imagine having a sub50 last lap of a 5000? That just sounds crazy.
Sub 50 last lap should be possible for a race run at 18 minute 5k pace.
Is there a video? He must have gaped the field by 50 meters in the last lap.

Is that a joke? You can't think of at least one runner who could run sub 50 off of a 14+ min 5k?
Nope, can you?
Very interested to see how the prior laps played out. Regardless, this is a ~14:25 paced race so no reason Farah couldn't approach his 400m max. For reference he likely tempos at ~14:00 pace. Nice little 4600m warmup, a rolling start, then let that sucker rip.
bigtool wrote:where's ventolin claiming that farrah's max speed is 51 or some bullshit like that?
right here
he started his sprint just before the bell & they said 50.89
with flying start, worth ~ 0.75s ( that is usual number used in a relay )
->51.64
knock off something for the wind & fatigue upto the bell ( very little as it was such a slow race, little more than a 400 time trial ) & i reckon he is in
~ 51-flat
open 400 shape
i used to reckon he was in low-51 shape coupla years ago when he ran his pbs of 12'53/26'46
i reckon 2y down the line he has fractionally improved his 400 ability to 51-flat, which is no big surprise
if he's got all his endurance with him currently, the 2 lines of fit i'd offer him currently are
51.0 / 1'47.6 ->
3'31.3
4'47.6
7'23.6 !
12'45.1
26'40.1
to
51.0 / 1'47.5 ->
3'31.0
4'47.0
7'22.5 !!
12'42.8 !!
26'34.3
he coud almost get into the 3'30s but definitely a huge 3k time is possible & the 5k is right up there with the top 2 ethiopians

How about every sub 3:30 1500m runner and most sub 13 5k guys. Especially someone like Soi or Kipchoge. Then a good amount of sub 3:33 1500m guys.
Yes, have the runners agree to run the first 4600m in 17 minutes, and sprint the final 400m. Farah might even drop a sub 50, but there several runners who could, as well.

Could OF gone? Are you serious?
So about 13:19 at the bell, meaning he would have been lapped by myself if he were giving it an honest effort. 4600 meter jog, then a big kick. Pvssy move.
