Evan Jager Will Likely only Steeple in Final and at Worlds This Year

makes sense, top 3 is almost guaranteed

I was a little disappointed to see this as I want to see the sub-8. Let's hope the WChamp final is fast.

Next year not being a Wchamp year, he'll have plenty of time to run time trials.

That's a good move by Schumacher. Hopefully he does the same for Huling. Jager still has so much untapped potential in the flat races. It'd be fun to see him get in a fast-paced 5k at some point this season, too.

Team will be Jager, Huling, and Forys.

For someone that doesn't know much about the steeple, what is this about? It seems like Kemboi, Kipruto et al have had long careers. Is it mostly about limiting the risk of collisions/falls?

I don't think any of those guys have ever had screws drilled into either of their feet to repair navicular stress fractures though.

It's the philosophy of his coach that racing less, will get better results, by avoiding competitions, therefore not losing, therefore... doing better by not competing as much.

I agree. I think he could get down close to 13:00 or just under. Also, Rojo, I agree with you that it would be nice to see a sub-8:00 attempt this year, and while that may or may not happen in the WC, he'll probably still get a PR. Let's see if he can go sub-7:30 and maybe challenge the AR in the 3000 first. That would be quite a feat.

I hear you, but we all wanted to see a sub 27 10k badly too, and Solinsky getting there too soon broke him. Schumacher has learned and doesn't want to overdo it with Jager in an event that is extremely taxing.
