Well?
Could be his best race since his 9.69.

It was wind-aided. A fine performance nonetheless, but the +2.4 renders it less exciting than a legal mark.
I'm skeptical of the wind meter.
His start was poor, his transition didn't look great, and he closed sort of well, but not exceptionally well.
And then, the time pops up as 9.75.
Regardless, I think he's in 9.7x high shape if he gets a good start.
Who cares if it was .04 over the legal wind limit?
I believe this is a world leading time. One of the better races we've seen in a few years.
Worth 9.86. Impressive!

His time converts to 9.86, 0.01 faster than his season opener adjusted.
I'm calling 9.73 basic in finals, assuming he doesn't slow down to avoid and big impact with the crash mats
Me too I suspect as well something isnt right with the wind meter. When I see a TON of people setting PR and records something isnt right LoL

Tyson is weird like that, he's actually going very fast when he looks funny. If you watch it was actually one of the better starts for Tyson, almost as good as his 9.69 and 9.68w, and it looked better than his 9.77AR.
What?
Tyson's start in his 9.69 was awful. Same with his 9.68 run.
He was bailed out on that 9.69 run by the best finish of his career along with a strong tailwind. Similar for his 9.68 run, except the wind was even stronger.
AR is 9.71...
Hmm Maybe Tyson will go 9.70 basic, really hoping to see something a fast time

You're comparing Tyson's start to Powell's which is a mistake.
Tyson never starts well compared to most other 100 guys, its his finish. Also look again at his 9.6's his starts were pretty good by his standard which is what I said. his style is he takes bigger steps in the first 10 which is slower initially but allows him to accelerate really well from 10-40. He looks more awkward the faster he goes but it works for him. If he ever got a Powell start in one of his 9.7's or 9.69 he would have the WR. If he got a Ben start he's break 9.5.
Like I said Tyson does not start well, ever compared to most of the best 100 guys, its his accel where he puts everyone except Bolt and Blake away, but by his better starts this was up there.
When did I say I was comparing Tyson's start to Powell's? No, I wasn't.
Look at Tyson's start compared to Powell's from the Berlin final, which only took place a few weeks before. Then, look at Tyson's start in Shanghai. There's really no comparison -- yet, Tyson ran faster in Shanghai (9.69 compared to 9.71).
Tyson still doesn't have quite the top speed to go 9.5, even with a "Ben start." As is, when Bolt is 100%, Gay is outclassed over all phases of the race.

Tyson going 9.70 what are you crazy? Tyson's never gone that fast before ever not even once!

Gay and Bolt have only raced once head to head when both were 100%. The difference between the two was likely something unnatural combined with Bolt's best start+accel before or since.
The two other times they faced in New York in 08 Gay was not 100%, and in London Gay was not 100%. Both of those times Bolt was on another level, again you be the judge.

Not .04, genius, 0.4. In case you were curious, that's meters per second, not kilograms per Joule or volts per torr.
I imagine you are among those who were also saying "Who cares if there was a tailwind? Ryan Hall is still a 2:04 marathoner!!!!!!!!"
Since 2008, Bolt and Gay have only raced each other twice at full fitness, sure (New York '08 + Berlin '09).
Of course, Bolt had two of his three best starts, that I know of, of his entire career at those two events. You're right on the money there.
Even though Bolt's starts are normally poor, they're usually about equal to what Tyson brings to the table. Bolt's top speed is also superior to Gay's. Tyson just doesn't have anything on Bolt. If you look at the 10m splits from Berlin, for example, Bolt was actually pulling away the entire race.
To hell with the semi's. He ran 9.75 in the FINAL with a 1.1 wind.
Now THAT is legit!
Tyson was not full fitness for New York 08.
Bolt came into that blazing, and whats even more amazing about that being only Bolts 3rd 100 race ever, is that he stayed in that form for 3 months, 12+ weeks which is unheard of but completely normal in Jamaica between 2008-2012.

One of his best efforts ever.
If he stays healthy he can take down Bolt in Moscow, especially if its cold.
TYSON FOR GOLD AT WORLDS!!!!
He will beat Bolt this year.
