Hi,
I've been training (following HADD) with my HRM for the past 8 weeks (going to senior year in HS) but I'm having a serious problem.
First off, all last week, I've been at a camp called Windy gap at North Carolina (I live in south Florida) so I had to alter my training. I did about 3 runs up and down hills, and we took a 5 mile hike up and down a mountain (I ran down the mountain trail too, by feel)
The week before camp, I was running at 40-50 MPW, and was showing improvement.
Ex: at 140-145 (Easy days) my pace went from 9:50, to averaging 9:20s over the weeks.
My aerobic pace (HR: 160-166) went from 8:10 to 7:50 (without having to slow down).
After not doing much for 1 week, I tried to do my 1 hour aerobic run (HR 164-170) and I couldn't stay under 170! My HR kept going up and it was at 175-179, well above target, and I was running at 8:10 Pace! WTF??? I should've been able to hold 7:30-7:40 pace...
I failed to mention, it was in the hottest part of the day (storm was approaching) and I cut my run to just 30 min due to the heat (felt like crap, was drenched in sweat)
I tried to run today, and now my HR wouldn't go under 150 at a reasonable 9:50 pace! What's going on with me?
I KNOW it can't be overtraining, since I barely ran last week, did I seriously lose ALL that fitness in just 1 week??
Plus my resting HR is at 44-45, as it's been before.
Today was supposed to be a 1 hour easy run but I cut it in half AGAIN because of my HR
and my left achillies is hurting, probably from the hills back at Windy Gap. Doesn't hurt unless I run, and no tenderness at all. Weird... anything I can do? I'll just ice.
Anyways, I'm completely at loss here. Does anyone know what could be the cause of my sudden slowdown? Everything was fine the week before camp, and I didn't completely stop running for the whole week at camp, I did run some (it was a very low down week) so what the heck could this be???
