Last year, Brown had the #1 time in the US before the Trials at 3:34 but didn't make the final thanks to an Achilles injury.
Is he injured again or just playing it safe to make sure he's healthy?
Anyone know?

You guys have an interesting journalistic research strategy, gathering info from random users.
To answer your question, Russell has defected to Kenya. I hope you give me a credit in your preview article.
I don't fault wejo for his approach, but this shows off how unprofessional "professional" Track & Field is. USATF and or the athlete's respective agents/clubs should make them available to the media prior to big events. Can you imagine an NFL or NBA game about to be played and we wouldn't know which teams are playing? If the sport wants to attract more fans and garner more respect, this needs to change.

He had a quad strain. Russell Brown got injured. What else is new.
This should help answer your question.
Brown’s not worried about times just yet. After his Trials disappointment, his focus has been on “getting to the starting line in one piece. Second, it was focusing on the things that are going to make getting a top three [USATF] spot possible: working on tactics, working on closing speed, and working on pace changes.”
