Adidas Lightstrike

I tried them on but didnt buy them..wish I did..I bought the Boston Classic which I love but bought the Saucony Fastwitch for my speed shoe...I think the litestrike would have worked better for me...great price at Holabird..my next shoe will be the Lightstrike

I am waiting for them to come in to my local (well sort of) shop they should be there soon according to the owner so I will check them out and buy them there if I like them. I have a friend who likes the fasttwitch endurance.

I was also a little worried about getting the LightStrike becaue I was looking in the fall Adidas catalog online and did not see the Lighstrike so I was wondering if they were not all that popular.

The Adios litestrike has made my final list for marathon shoes since I cannot find the former skylons. Good shoe so far wore them for an easy 10 and 8 so far. Will test with an MP 14 and easy 20 miler over the next week. Should receive the zoom milers today. I will put these thru a similar test as well. The litestrike could lose about 15% of the cushioning and be perfect. HOLABIRD SPORTS ROCKS!!!!!

Great if its not too much of a bother would you mind posting your thoughts after those two runs or sending an email my way?

I got a pair of Adidas Adios LiteStrikes a week or two before they hit the mass markets...these shoes are AMAZING.

Whenever I run in them (faster tempos, etc) I feel like I'm not wearing anything. It's like running in more supportive slippers. I ran in them for an easy run and just took off, I seriously think it is impossible to run slowly in these shoes.

Of course, they will not make you faster, but compared to a heavier cushioned shoe, these are a wonderful second pair to have on hand for your faster road work.

The only thing I don't like is the laces. They look like tapeworms and I know they're lightweight but you really have to yank on the lacing system to get the shoes to be tight enough and stay that way.

I've only tried in on thus far in a size larger that what I need- haven't yet received our entire shipment of them quite yet (damn you Adidas...). This shoe felt great. In a size 11, it came in around 11.2 ounces, which was disappointingly heavy. I was hoping more for around 10 or so. However, this shoe is EXTREMELY flexible which was wonderful. The midfoot almost reminds me of the Nike Free- you can basically fold it in half. I'm looking forward to getting a pair and doing some running in them. Just need Adidas to get themselves in gear, but that's another story.

I wore them in a half marathon this weekend. I was just doing it as a tempo/MP run. Ran 1:10:16 and the shoes were great. Not quite as good as a racing flat, but my legs weren't beat up either. Great shoe.

I would try the Pegasus racer. It works well for me and usually wins out against other light weight trainers at our store.

Are these anything like the Adios of maybe 5 or 6 years ago?

The "1996" Adios was more of a true racing flat (roughly 8 ounces size 9). The updated "2004" Adios Lightstrike dials in at 10.0 ounces (size 9), and is somewhere between a flat and every day trainer. The Adios Lightstike makes a solid marathon racer for those that find a racing flat too minimal, but still want a light weight, responsive, low profile shoe. I like the shoe for tempo stuff....

Do these run true to size or small?

I took the Lightstrike out for 8 miles last night (first run in them) and was pleasently suprised. They felt great!

A couple of comments/concerns:

1. The toebox is very narrow and tapers VERY quickly. My little two toes did not like this, so, sorry to say, this shoe won't work for runs longer that what I did last night. This might have just been caused by the covered overlay on that area.

2. The quickstrike material absolutely SUCKS on concrete. Every time I striked, it almost felts like the shoe was going to slip out from underneath me. This could just be due to my stride, however.

3. Would it be possible to take off a half ounce or so in the future? The shoe did feel nice and light, but a little bit less would make the shoe perfect.

Mike, what's the life expectancy of this shoe?

Good feedback on the shoe, and weight request. Funny the Adios has a very open mesh vamp. The overlay is about as minimal as you can get.

I would say the life on this shoe is roughly 200-250 miles depending on how much you beat up a shoe. I save the shoe for 1-2 per week, and have taken the shoe out as far as a half marathon w/o any issues...

Just curious here since I did not see the Adios LiteStrike in the fall/winter catalog available for download from the Adidas website will these shoes be continued?

Also as far as fit is concerned how does the fit compare to something like the Supernova Comp?

Thanks Mike. As for the life expectency of the shoe, I meant more in terms of how long it will be around. Are we talking about a yearly cycle for this, or less?

AM Runner- I've run in both the Supernova Comp and now this, and the fit is fairly similar. I think the Adios is narrower though, especially in the forefoot. There isn't as much arch in the shoe, in my opinion, which is very nice.
