I'm about to start my medical residency.
If you want money and you're smart, this career is not for you. Don't try and convince yourself in university that this is what you should do. I'm warning you now.
If you want money and you're good at math and science, get an applied math degree in the school of engineering. EE is also a great choice. From applied math you can go the finance route. Truly bright financiers with a math background can make well over a mill in their 20's. The best make 5-10 mill a year. Many average ones make 200K in their second year. But then you're a leech of society and only serve yourself, so if you can live with that its all you.
An other avenue which is a great choice if you're creative is EE. If you're hard working (which most runners are) you can intern over the summers and segway into a job right out of college. This is moderately good money, but then you go to night school for an MBA which often times your company will pay for. Then you go into management, which is often salivating to have someone with technical experience and business savy. You're making 300+K with stock options, which is the real money maker. If you're as smart as you say you won't be worried with the amount of money you make there. Good luck.
All I ask is that you please consider your impact on society with your decisions. There was once a time where gifted people tried to use their gifts for others. You'll still make money but sleep better at night :)
