He has declared for the 10,000 at USATF's on Thursday night and will be running the US Half Marathon Championships less than 36 hours later.
When he was originally entered in both I thought it was just an agent making sure that his name was on the list for the 10,000 as Matt himself said that he was NOT running on the track. BUT NOW HE HAS DECLARED.
It would be an incredibly dick move to declare and keep another athlete from running and then not show up.
Matt is a huge DB and I bet that he doesn't show up in Des Moines. But yes it would be an impressive double but it would suck if he is taking another deserving runners spot by declaring and not showing.
Evan Jager is declared in the 5000 and 3000 steeple, and he's already stated that he's only doing the steeple. The declarations mean nothing
They mean that you can't fill the fields. There is no excuse for someone declaring and then not running their FIRST event. There is nothing wrong with declaring for a back up plan. But if Teg declares and NEVER comes into the city, he is a huge DB.

Very happy to hear. I hope he has a good race; it definitely sounds like his heart is not in the roads, it's just what he's doing because his track days are behind him. I hope his race at nationals proves that wrong.

The link on the homepage most people are talking about wasn't a declared list. It was just a list of the top times in each event. So while it revealed that Teg ran a fast 10k last year it did not reveal that he is going to run that event, or at all, in Des Moines.

Nope. He has declared to run this year. If you go to USATF page it has a list of DECLARED athletes.

Athletes at that level have agents, sponsors, and coaches pulling the strings on these maneuvers.

its USATF, not matt, that is the DB. there are only 24 entrants on the list of athletes. as of right now 19 of them have been accepted and declared. the other 5 are provisional and pending. looks like USATF is limiting the field size to 19.

All 10k guys got in but no thanks to Tegenkamp. He is still declared to run. Anxious to see if he in fact turns out to be a huge DB.

Teg is a two time Olympian and one of the best distance runners in American history. He has every right to bump out some amateur just trying to make the US meet.
Things get even more interesting and exciting. Also, twenty-five runners have declared, which means a decent number will get lapped, which might complicate matters at the end of the race.
