Two-time 200m World Championships bronze medallist, Wallace Spearmon Jr of the United States, is refusing to believe the sprint queen would take any such substance and remains resolute in support for her.
"I wake up to this ... I know for a fact she wouldn't do anything like that," Spearmon posted on Twitter.
Sanya Richards-Ross was among those left in shock. "So hard for me to believe the news of VCB. She's always been so talented! Really respect her as one of the greats," said Richards-Ross as she added the hashtags #HeartBroken, #PrayItsNotTrue.
St Kitts and Nevis veteran runner, Kim Collins, came out in support of his fellow sprinter, sending her a tweet. "@VCampbellBrown my friend, we love you. Continue to hold your head high. This too, shall soon pass."

When you know people personally, it's hard to imagine them being a 'cheater.' To you, she's a foreign name on the internet, to them, she's a friend.
-
If s&x were a drug, I licked the pill.
Dude, it's been 3 1/2 years. I'm not a nun. -
Its just like Sprinters to always take sides and make it an either or thing.
She doped, she did it. Believe it.
Remember, Bolt and Spearmon are also friends, and Sanya Richards Ross is born Jamaican and isn't good friends with Felix.
Kim Collins also has plenty to grudge about from 2004.
I swear to god this sh*t is like highschool popularity contests. -

The thing that puzzles me is, if she knew she was doping, why did she show up for this insignificant meet and get busted? She could have easily stayed away if she knew drugs were in her system. It's not like she's some rookie...she's a veteran. Something else may be amiss. -
she is _not_ a dopper.

Wallace just tryin to get his Spear wet.

Some things to keep in mind:
(1) Not only is VCB experienced, she trains in the USA (literally on the same track in Clermont where Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin train and she was coached at Arkansas by Tyson's coach). This is the SECOND athlete from JAMAICA associated with Tyson turned positive by the JAMAICANS (not anybody else).
(2) The Jamaicans have not announced what chemical this is.
(3) The Jamaicans have been under pressure by WADA and possibly the IAAF for essentially not doing any drug tests last year. I posted some about this yesterday.
(4) Anyone around as long as VCB is going to know that any diuretic is banned as a masking agent.
(5) There was a story going around before the JII meet that the drug testing at the meet was going to be done by the IAAF, not the Jamaicans...and then suddenly you had all of these Jamaican and other Caribbean sprinters like Richard Thompson bailing. If VCB really was taking something, why wouldn't she bail, too?
It just seems like every time the Jamaicans get in trouble for letting their stars off scott free, they throw up some sacrificial lamb (Dominique Blake last fall) or somebody more known that trains in the USA.
Something is pretty fishy here. -
she is clean or perhaps a sacrificial sheep?
-
I think they have quite a number of lesser athletes than VCB to use as sacrificial lamb, if that is what it is about.
-
she lower down the pecking order than blake or bolt
but high enough to send a clear message
if that what this about
there's been a war of words between wada and iaaf lately on this out of competition testing issue -
Is it possible she may have wanted to be caught? This mistake is far too stupid for someone like her to make.
Maybe something the Jamaican federation did pissed her off. Maybe she felt ignored. She has 7 Olympic medals, Bolt only 6. She has 9 WC medals, Bolt only 7. She's been to and medaled at 4 Olympics. Her career is in its twilight. She could have retired after London. Maybe she wanted to make a statement?
Anyone ever think maybe she's been the only clean one in Jamaica all this time?
All hypothetical of course. -
Training with some of the best I have realized that most of what you see in this sport is smoke and mirrors. I cannot explain this VCB incident it almost reminds me of the Bolt "false start" not real, too predicted and set up. She is a veteran and EVERYONE knew that the testers were there and thats why everyone bailed from the meet. Yes she was doping but maybe she was forced to take this slap on the wrist or possibly loose her career from previous positive results. Maybe she tested positive for a strong steroid prior and they let her get away and get her medal. Now she must take the slap on the wrist or other results will be made public and her career ruined for good. Something is just fishy about the whole situation. I believe she knew about this "positive" test before it even happened. Im going to talk to my coach and see if I can get the inside info.
-
Careers won't be lost because she didn't do anything wrong. A few months ago it would've been against the rules, but the team/jobs changed.
-
You have to look at you own point critically. That she is a veteran also means she would be more versed in escaping detection. It cuts both ways. Also being a veteran also removes the excuse "somebody fed it to me", or "I didn't know it was banned" e.t.c. Thirdly, being a veteran and a dopper also has a risk of taking it for granted that you can't be caught, thus letting your guard down for a moment and that's when BOOM, you are caught! Has is not occurred that lots of other veteran athletes have been caught doping? Think about it, how comes athletes who are caught and proven doppers were not caught earlier yet it is presumed they must have been using long before the first positive test? Do you think they were caught on their first use? I doubt it. I think doppers and those who aid them play a game of cat and mouse and sometimes it catches up to them.

I beg to differ. It's just like any close knit group of athletes or any other kind of people to take sides in the face of facts. The fact they are all sprinters has nothing to do with it. Anyone defending her is looking like a fool. -
People who say this was too stupid to get caught forget that some times the drug just stays in your system longer. That window, if even for days difference means everything.
-
maybe she didn hear the news like the rest of em
that ran for cover when they heard the testers were coming -
They ALL do it and they always pretend to be shocked and in disbelief because that helps pull suspicion away from them too.
Let me put this into perspective, yesterday on twitter, I tweeted a world class long jumper who has won medals at the commonwealth games for example.
She told me there are only 2 athletes that competed in the woman 100m final in London 2012 that she hasn't heard rumours of PED usage on and to be honest, I think she was being VERY Lenient.
You'd have to be seriously naïve to be shocked VCB took PED's.
And as for Sanya Richards, she is one of favourite athletes, she's full of it, I believe she once said about ped usage "If you don't fail the test, then you are clean".... LOL. She's not stupid and nor is spearmon.
Next min Spearmon will be telling us Yohan Blake is ped-free too. -
You guys are going to love THIS:
"No serious drugs were involved, no PEDs (performance Enhancing Drugs) were involved, that's all I will say," the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.
After the 'B' sample came back positive, Campbell-Brown will next face a Jamaica Anti-doping Commission's panel, before which she will explain how the substance got into her system.
According to the source, she could receive a three-month ban or even a public reprimand. The source added that she was expected to be back in competition again soon.
