I'm a 800/400 runner, and I'm going to be a freshman in high school. I've been running track since i was in 5th grade, however I would always do great the whole season until the big meets and then just bomb them. Recently, for summer track, I've been hitting my times in practices easily, maybe even going ahead for some of them. But in the meets, I've been running WAY slower than in practice even for both 800 and 400. This has been happening a lot, and I'm getting really sick of feeling like I'm not good enough. I know that the race can only be changed by me, but my body feels entirely different running in meets than in practice. I let people beat me who shouldn't, and I'm just a mess right now. Does any one have any suggestions that could possibly help? Thank you.
