She's already got the 800 and 1500 standard and going for the A in the 5000m at the Portland Track Festival.
Brenda Martinez has the A in the 800 and 1500 and it does not seem like she's going for the 5000m standard. Moser has the 1500m and 5000m standard, but not going for the 800m standard (as far as I know)

So i am actually sure if she can run 15:20. She ran 9:38 indoors, so she'd have to run 7 seconds slower per mile than that...that might be a bit of a tall order. I think running 10 seconds slower per mile would be more reasonable. So more like 15:30 or just under
Cain may have a better chance in the 800m since only 3 women have the A standard (& they all made it today - Brenda Martinez, Alysia Montano, & Cain) & Martinez indicated she may not go for the 800, even though she has the leading time so far.
The A std for 5k is 15:18.
Hard to say whether she could make it or not since she hasn't run a 5k on the track yet. But, given her 3k & 2mi performances indoors, 15:18 is definitely within reach.
By comparison, Abby D'Agostino ran 9:02 for a 3k indoors last year, then 15:19.98 outdoors.
Kim Conley ran 8:56 and 15:14 outdoors last year.
Julia Lucas ran 9:01 (indoors) and 15:08 outdoors last year.
Cain ran 9:02 indoors (& probably a bit faster if her 2 mile record was converted), so could challenge 15:18 if she has competition who can run faster.
If she's going to be a world beater in the future, she should forget about the 5000 for a while...continue to build that speed and shoot for Pamela Jelimo's WJR of 1:54 in the 800m or one of those Chinese girl's WJR of what is it, 3:57 in the 1500? 5000 training will undoubtedly stunt her world class development

How cool would it be for Mary Cain to take down Sonya Richards American Junior record in the 400 of 49.89...then she could attempt true dominance with every record from 400 to 5000....haha a bit unrealistic
