Whatever the case, he'll probably have the fastest ever US opener. If this wasn't a WC year, I would say he could break 8:00 later in the year. He still might. Should be an exciting race.

Huling will also run a massive PB. Possibly get under Dan Lincoln's former record. He ran 13:18 so far this outdoor season.

Both Jager and Huling are in the best shape of their lives.

Not sure if this race will go out fast enough for Jager to break the AR, but he'll certainly be up there contending for the win, as will Huling. Huling is ready for a breakout year and these two guys training together is big for American steeplechasing. It seems to me that either Ben Bruce or Haron Lagat would be pacing. Lagat is a terrific rabbit, so if he's out front leading for a while, you know the pace is going to be perfect.

Didn't realize they're training partners now...should be interesting as Jager's hair is on the line:

Huling's PB is 8:14; doubt he will run much faster than that ever and certainly won't be that quick at Pre.

it's not really fair to expect an AR out of Jager in his opening steeple of the year. This will probably be a slowish race with Jager in first or second for most of it just kinda cruising.

I doubt he breaks it as well. But can he sniff 8:10? Anything under 8:15 would be great for an opener.

That's quite a good field.
