cairo is the driest with only 0.72 inches of rain per year. not sure if its the most populated or not. karachi has alot of people.
Many underprivileged people live in food deserts, so they don't have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

I believe it is Cairo followed closely by Los Angeles which is technically a desert. All water comes from hundreds of miles away and very little rainfall

wrong. los angeles is NOT a desert. it gets 16 inches of rain per year.
i have a ph.d in eremology (the study of deserts). to be scientifically classified as a desert, you must get less than 10 inches of rain per year. thats what science says.
Lima, Peru is number 2
los angeles isnt anywhere near as populated as many middle-eastern desert cities in the Sahara.
uh, Karachi si the 3rd largest city in the world, behind tokyo and shainghai. So I would think it is the largest desert city. It gets 6.1 inches of rain per year.
Tehran if by city proper
Cairo by metro
Probably not if you are counting metro, but Dubai is up there. Give it 15 years and Dubai for sure
Dubai is a couple million people (80% of which are not Emiratis). It is a desert, however.
