El G? Lagat? Ngeny? I've always wondered. 51.5? 51.0? Sub 51?

what's the fastest anyone has ever closed and sill run under 3:33 or so
I think Cacho and Rui Silva have been closing in 51.x
Jim Ryun is rumored to have run a sub 37 last 300 in a USA vs West Germany meet. There are several threads here where this was debated.
i remember some indoor champ race some years ago. it was SLOW and last 400 m was damn fast. maybe sub 50?
morcelli 93 wc
el g 97 wc
were fast last laps but times about 3-34 3-35
morcelli 95 wc 3-33 and 51-x last lap i think

No rumor. I saw it firsthand. He closed the last 400 in just under 51.
wellyour watch was faultya contemporary german account has it at 49.4http://www.zeit.de/1967/34/rasender-ryun/seite-2
& other reports indicate that he had to run wide at the 300m point past the 2 germans who were trying to "block" him

2011 world championships were closed in about 51.6 so those times have been done.
Then there's the debate over Ryun's 37 last 300 and 49 last 400 which would blow away anything else I've heard of...

What was Ryun's finishing time?
3:38.2.
El G once closed his last 1500 in 3:26.00. Now that's a kick!

Seems slow enough that someone could run a 49.
Abdi Bile once did the last 800 in 1:46.0.
it was a dirt track
that's more like a 3'34 on a synthetic
to put that into perspective, ovett when winning virtually all the 1500 races in '77/'78 only had a 3'34pb during all this time
