8k times are all over the place. How hard is the course? Was it measured properly?
I'd guess 25:50, just projecting off of his 5k time alone. Those short times, which are superior to his 5k time, don't necessarily indicate that he's aerobically underdeveloped. The distances are so short that what they really indicate is just that he's got some wheels.
Now, if he had a sub-4 1500, then I would expect a drop off as he moves up to 8k.
I would say nice flat golf course. Gotcha man. The post is about me. I have never done a mile. I haven't been above 60mpw without injury and have usually a 12 week period of great training till the eventual downfall.
It's hard to translate track times to an 8k cross. Some guys just rock on the track, and suck on the grass.
You, sir, have some quick Mid-D stuff relative to your 5k. Unfortunately, I have seen more mid-d guys not run cross well. Doesn't mean you can't run well, but the odds aren't in your favor.
25:45-26:00.
The reason I want to know is that I am undecided on whether to try out for my colleges team. They only have XC not track. If I can't run a decent 8k/10k I don't want to sell out for the roads/xc. their mid pac 8k guys are around mid 27 the last time i checked.
At 60mpw, there's no reason why you can't develop aerobically and translate that speed into a fast 5K/8K time. I suspect you're not doing the correct workouts that promote speed endurance.
