I always knew I was in at least 15:30 shape when I could do 3 x 1600 in the low 4:50's with a strict 3 min rest.

Those workouts are more difficult than doing a 15:30!!
I would rather just do the 5K in 15:30!! Those workouts suggest faster 5k times.
