a twitter handle did not run anything. Haile Gebreselassie ran that time. I believe he was already 40 years ago. Absolutely incredible.

When comparing Haile vs Kenenisa, many claim that Kenenisa is better due to his Cross Country credentials; a valid opinion. However, Geb's longevity is just as incredible. He ran faster last year (at 10k) than when he won his first junior world title in 1992.

What was he 40 years ago? Younger?
As a masters runner myself, one of the beauties is - no USADA. Go Geb!!
He's due up in Manchester this weekend for the 10k. 40+ WR is only 28:51 and Haile has set single-age records there the last 4 years, so no reason he can't again.

Moron, USADA has no jurisdiction over Geb. And since he hasn't retired from pro running yet, he is subject to random and in competition testing.
hermens will keep him supplied with peds as long as he keeps winning
20yrs and counting
use your noggin. you can figure it out.
as for my prediction when he really turned forty:
I withdraw what I said. I thought that something was odd about his progression, but I just looked up his IAAF profile and he would have been 25 in 1998 and 26 in 1999, when he ran his best times, and 35 in 2008 when he broke 2:04. He may very well have just turned 40.
approximately 45
haile with dope fiend hermens in the background
According to David Monti on Twitter:
"At Saturday's Grand Prix von Bern in Switzerland, @HaileGebr ran a world 40+ record for 10 miles: 46:59 (previous 47:26, J. Kipngok, 2003)"
Anyone have any information on the race? that's 14:38 5k pace / 4:42 mile pace. Isn't Geb supposed to be racing a 10k soon?
As a side note, McMillan equates that performance to 1:02:40 in the half, 2:11:53 for the full. Gotta believe he's in better shape than that though.
Homes is going to jack up the Age Graded Tables! He and Lagat are going to make all of us old guys look like Posers!
