If you have a really long lay over, and you can't get a run in before/after your flight, would you try to get your run in at the airport? Does that look really stupid? Has anyone ever done it and had success?

I do hill runs on the escalotor, and Ido strides on this electric walking path. Also you can sneak in some strides on the runway when they are boarding the airplane
I'm 42 and 15 years ago, you could get away with running wherever you wanted in the airport (within reason) and not raise any eyebrows...Nowadays, running through an airport, might just get you tazed and a few wallops upside the head with a baton...
Just take the day off. Get some quality stretching in or something, then just troll LR; that layover time will be killed.
If I was going to go that I'd try to do it around one of those massive car parks or outside in the street. I think running IN the airport would look extremely suspiscious and weird.

But then you have to go through security again, which would mean running with boarding pass and ID, and you'd likely find yourself doing lots of explaining to suspicious ears.
I ran in Heathrow in 2004 without interference from security types. I found a corridor connecting concourses. Turns out they're not nearly as long as you want them to be in that situation.
Either way, this only works if you're traveling with someone who can watch your stuff. Long ago you could rent lockers for a few hours and head out for real runs.
At Detroit, you can workout at the Westin on-premises for $15 - includes shower and a towel. I've done it several times.
God I'm so glad I don't run anymore. Runners are such dorks.
Oh I didn't think of that. Whoops!
Yeah, maybe not a good idea.
What about running on the spot in the toilets?
Jesus christ, are you serious? One day off is not going to kill you bro.
I ran around LAX a few years ago coming back from New Zealand. It wasn't the most pleasant run but it was OK, there are sidewalks and the roads have shoulders. It does mean going through security again but it's that or miss the run.
Did it look really stupid? I don't think it looked any more stupid than running in along any other sidewalk or highway does.
