do Canadian HS run 1600 and 3200
do Canadian HS run 1600 and 3200
no
As far as I know, no other country runs the 1600 or 3200 . Whoever came up with the idea to subject high school students to this nonsense should hang his or her head in shame.
they run the proper distances of 1500 and 3000m. there is the occasional mile that gets run, but it is not a championship distance
Also, in XC, here is how it is (at least for Ontario):
Level-------Boys-Girls
Freshman-----5k---3k
Sophomore----6k---4k
Varsity------7k---5k
(each distance has a variance of +/- 400m from the intended race distance. I have seen cases where it is actually more than that)

You mean the absurd leftovers from the days of 500 meter tracks, that are now 3 3/4 and 7 1/2 laps instead of continuing the sensible binary progression of 1 lap, 2 laps, 4 laps, 8 laps, etc.
Just because the olympics still uses the 1500 doesn't mean it's not stupid. It is as stupid as the modern pentathlon, synchronized swimming, rhythmic gymnastics and any other olympic-dependent stupidity. The olympics is a mix of mainly archaic nonsense and obscure new "sports" that nobody cares about. The 1500 sucks.

I agree the 1500m is stupid. 1600m would make so much more sense. I do like 3000m over 3200m, as it's a whole km.

Oh yeah, you know, because running even, whole laps around the track is too mainstream.
1M and 2M are the true distances. Anything else is just pretend.
Yes because the world revolves around the thought process of you.
Please, no one cares about the mile. The the IAAF changed it, then yeah, everyone would care...but they haven't. Therefore the mile is irrelevant, same with the 2mile.

Actually lots of people care about the mile. The deuce, too. And BW is right...the 1500 sucks.
It's "metres" in Canada, not "meters."
