Thanks so much for posting this Mr. Shay. Ryan hosted me on my recruiting visit to Notre Dame and made a huge impression on me that weekend. He was one of the most genuine, gracious and humble people I have ever had the good fortune to meet. I had always admired him for his athletic achievements, but after having a chance to get to know him, I was a huge fan of his from that point forward. I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been for you and the rest of your family to lose someone so special. I hope it gives all of you some solace to know that I'm certain there are countless others like myself who are better people for having known your son.

Ryan Shay, and I have absolutely no doubt Joe will agree, is remembered not for his natural ability, but for his dedication, passion and hardwork

Hundreds of boys, and Im one of them, who once thought maybe they were not good enough, were inspired by his drive, thinking that maybe they did had a chance to succeed

Thats why he deserves so much respect, thats why we feel so sorry, thats why he will never be forgotten

Thanks for this. Seems like a great person that really had his head on straight and knew where he was going.

Wow, this video brings back memories of competing at Big East Outdoors and seeing Ryan complete the difficult task of dominating the Big East competition in all of his races. He wore shades on the track, which contributed to his rock star persona that was both alluring and intimidating. He certainly left his mark on girls like me, who never had enough nerve to talk to him.

Ryan was such an amazing person,it was a pleasure knowing him and his wonderful family. Its cool that you have shared his movie. Give my regards to Casey.

It was strange seeing David Kimani in there at a few points. Its tough to think about the fact that two runners who were at the top of the NCAA at the same time both passed away so young.

Thanks so much for posting this as it brings back wonderful memories. Ryan did things the right way in our sport and that is what I take most from him. Tough, kind, humble, rugged, and so many other adjectives we can use to describe him. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him around.
