Matt Tegenkamp 25K AR potential?

The course is pretty challenging and if he runs within 1:30 of that time, he won't have much competition pushing him, unless he sticks with the lead foreign contingent. Saturday's race is less about records for Teg and more about winning a U.S. title.

And why wouldn't he do that? The lead Kenyan will probably be 1:14-mid so why wouldn't he stick with him?

How do you figure that? Didn't he just run a 27:33 with a kick in a championship race last year?

I'll bet like one dollar. Maybe up to two.

Bad course for a record. It will be tough but a long shot record possible.

Don't you think the record is weak enough to get anyways? That's where the current record is set. I would expect him to demolish it at the Berlin 25k and here he still has a chance.

Also, they're running the normal course this year, which is with only a few hills in the second half - they almost ran the alternate hilly course they do some years due to recent flooding but the normal course is back on.

didn't even notice that, but now that i see the elite field there are a few names that could challenge Teg on the right day. Now I am even more convinced that SOMEONE will break the NR, but it might not be Tegenkamp.

Looking at the weather for Saturday it might be breezy but temperatures should be great.

the thing about Cabada's CR (which was an awesome run) is that wasn't even a particularly good day. It's crappy weather today, but it's supposed to stop raining, clear out overnight, calm down & drop to 41. Rising to 56 & a windy afternoon. If it holds in the 40s to maybe 50 & stays calm for the race, or blows downwind to the finish, it would be a much better day for a CR.

Teg surely could do it.

what are the chances Ryan Hall split faster than this on the way to his 2:04:58 in Boston? The first 5k is pretty quick on Boston and they were going ridiculously fast.

If any American had a faster 25k split then they'd have the AR

It wouldn't count due to the wind obviously, but yes I believe he split a bit faster.
