I hear it all the time. People be like, "I don't like running." What is there to not like about it?
I sometimes want say, "You mean, you don't like being fat or lazy?"
Do people who say they don't like to run actually hurt more?

Yes everyone should think like you do. Some people do not like running. They need to fid an exercise they like.
but isn't running the easiest exercise?, since it is a survival mechanism? I mean, cavemen couldn't ride their stationary bikes away from a flash flood...
Because they don't like running.
It must be proof of devolution... supporting that everything was mad by God but, man is breaking it. Man isn't evolving, he is devolving.
Maybe they say they don't like running because...they don't like running? I don't know, just a wild guess.
Some pay may find it exhausting, did you ever think of that?
I am "okay" at running with a 15:55 5K PR and I have some leg complications that make me hate every single second of it.

Wait, so you run and you hate running?
I understand when people hate running. Not everyone likes the same things. Running is tiring. It hurts. The reasons I like it are weird are difficult to justify to others. But I definitely like it. I don't like every single run I go out on. Thursday morning 8.5 mile easy runs the day after a Wednesday double including practice in the evening are dull and exhausting. But I definitely like the big picture.
I'm always perplexed when runners don't like running. If you don't like running, why run?
I like the super easy days and the very hard days, the stuff in the middle is like filler for me and I'd actually rather play sports or cross train than run ALL the time. Over the years running as the main gist comes and goes.
Running hurts if you aren't in shape to run. Simple stuff.
Running is only enjoyable if you are in shape. Non-runners just can't know the joy that is going for a run then getting in the zone and running the last several miles at a quick pace.
same reason women say they don't like giving head. they've never done it right.
running is painful and exhausting. It makes your ankles, knees, and back hurt and if it's hot you feel like you are going to die.
it requires no skill, it requires no social interaction, it requires no team work, it requires no hand eye coordination, it requires no technique, and in most cases it doesnt require any speed.
because distance running is for people that cant do real sports.

It can't help that other sports use running as a punishment. If you are exposed to running as an activity as a punishment it won't leave you with warm fuzzy feelings.

I've had guys with big stomachs tell me, "I don't like to run but I like to walk." The key is that they never punched through the rough part of running, the first few months at the start. I remember not really liking that either. These guys have made a few well-dispersed stabs at running over the years, and each time was like your first time. Forget trying to convey to them what it feels like when you've been running for years.

X3
My ex gf used to say, "I hate running because I don't know how to breathe, and then my lungs hurt." lol that's called being out of shape.
As someone who's come back after a couple long lay offs - 6 months of injury and a year of about 10 miles a week and gaining 45 lbs, running sucks when you're out of shape. The feeling you get from running when you're in or near pr shape is amazing, but pushing through to get there sucks.
A lot of people who don't like running compound this with a few things.
1. They overdress. Short shorts aren't for them and they were something that look like basketball shorts, or worse compression shorts.
A. A lot of people, especially women wear like compression pants, yoga pants, or whatever you call them. They are way to hot for weather over 20F. I see this a lot even though its almost summer. Also long sleeves. I see this a lot, even when its late spring, almost summer. Its like no one can just wear a cotton t shirt any more.
B. They bundle up like crazy in the winter. See A. You shouldn't feel comfortable at the start of a run if its cold out.
2. A lot of people's only experience running is on a treadmill. Most gyms are incredibly hot and have poor air circulation, leading to a sweat bath.
3. They pick the boringest places to run. I see people running in suburbia when there are nice trails nearby.
4. They don't push themselves enough, or often enough, to get a thrill from pushing and surpassing their limits. For them, running just always hurts and they don't see any benefit other than knowing they've burned some calories. They haven't seen themselves improving.
5. They don't set goals. Unless you take up running through xc or track, you probably don't have goals for races. You might have a couple 5ks, or even a marathon you simply want to finish, maybe even in a certain time. But thats not the same as striving for a goal time you hope to improve on and exceed several times.
It helps me socialize, keeps me healthy and sometimes I do enjoy racing.
