so could rupples
But Curtis only does 5 mile weeks...
800 is not Rupp-certified.
Curtis could beat Rupp while wearing Tims boots!

Really? Guess you've never heard of Raffi Cote.
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=3380182Rupp lost to the freshman walk on at 800 in 2009.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to Cote?

Excellent point because Rupp was definitely concentrating on the 800 when that happened. And he had as much speed in 2009 as he does now. I can totally intuitively see the purpose of this post.
Beach. Remember, the 800 is not Rupp-certified.
If beach looses to Rupp I will personally fly to Oregon during the Pre classic, walk out onto the track during the 5k (where Webb will set the AR) and tackle rupp into the infield.
I believe Rupp's 1500m PR is 3:34.75, which is about a 1:44.25 800m. Also, Rupp has run 1:50 in the 800m already.
I understand that Beach has a 3:59.13 1500m PR, which is about a 1:56 800m.
Rupp beats Beach hands down.
Right now, Beach. A year ago, Rupp hands down son.

You know Beach has run 147, right?
If Beach has run a 1:47, which is still not in Rupp's league, can you please provide the link to the results page to prove the 1:47?

You are one of the stupidest posters here. By your logic Rupp has more 800m potential than Charles Jock. Go back to school you moron.

Take a chill pill.
I was not comparing Charles Jock nor did I even imply that Charles Jock has less 800m "potential" than Galen. I believe Jock currently has a 800m PR of 1:44.67. Perhaps Jock will dip under 1:44 this year. Who knows.
Galen has run the mile in 3:50.92i. He also holds a PR in the 5,000m - 12:58.90 and the 10,000m – 26:48.00, which is the American Record. He also has a Olympic Silver Medal in a safe deposit box. Webb's Mile American Record is 3:46.91 (Galen is not that far off for being a 10K guy).
I believe that if you use a conversion table like mcmillian, Galen, if he focused on the 800m for an entire season, could get his 800m down to 1:44 low. And if he focused on the 800m for a year or two, perhaps 1:43 high.
I also believe if Beach focused solely on the 800m, he could drop his 800m time a lot.
Unfortunately, this is only a friendly game of "what ifs." Galen is not going to concentrate on the 800m nor is Curtis. This is nothing to get your panties in a bunch. Relax, take a deep breath, and have a beer.
No, you are a complete moron. Rupp could NEVER run high 1:43 or low 1:44, and you are cognitively challenged as evidenced by your opinion that he could. You are too stupid to comprehend, but the reason I mentioned Charles Jock is because he too has a much slower 1500m pb than Rupp, but it would mean very little in an 800m. You are an idiot.
The formatting is not easy, but if you ctrl-f "800", you can see his times from college. He has run the open 8 five times.
06/06-06/09/12 NCAA Division I Championships Outdoor 800 P 1:48.70 16
05/24-05/26/12 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Outdoor 800 P 1:47.75 4
05/24-05/26/12 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Outdoor 800 P 1:49.70 16
05-06-12 Duke Twilight Outdoor 800 F 1:56.57 29
04/06-04/07/12 Duke Invitational Outdoor 800 F 1:47.99 1
But I know he also has a few 1:48.x relay times not on that list, as well as a 2:23i to finish off a heptathlon. Also recall Beach ran 1:50.x in high school at nationals losing the race only to Robby Andrews.
has Beach competed at all this year? He ran 1:47.75 last year.
