Dear world Track team, Save a bed for Cory. Love, the steeplechase.
P.s. Be nice, He doesn't run for Nike.

Its great he stuck with the steeple. He's got nice wheels in the 1500 but was always just off the top caliber in college. He will however likely run 3:34-35 this summer which would be pretty scary to the other top U.S. steeplers.
Those 3 beds are taken already.
Jäger, Huling, Cabral.
Well, considering they have yet to actually take them, no they are not.
I'd be surprised if Hauling made it this year.

Seriously? The guy runs 13:18, shows he's stronger than ever, and you'd be surprised if he made the US squad? What does he have to do to make you think he'll make the team. The guy has been a top three contender for the past few years and is showing he's in the best shape of his life.
So is Leslie though. Cabral has only run 8:19 so I'd be worried if I was him.
Cabral should definitely be worried. He recently went back to his high school coach and opened this season with an 8:50
A guy I ran with in college won Silver at the Olypics and ran 8:03 ... so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
early may, he is 23 years old, had an 11 second personal best yesterday, i see a good upside, he could make some world olympic teams, hopefully more to come.
Following his Twitter, it's great to see a brand like Under Armour helping out an aspiring American, even though they don't make steeple spikes.
Huling dumped Gary for Jerry. Amd I was at presentation 2 years ago where Gary said he thought Huling could get AR. Wonder if he think Cory can beat him now?
One thing for sure, Jager is man among boys in steeplechase!
anyone had results for the meet in japan?
thanks
Do you see the company he was with?? 5 seconds off an 8:03 guy, and only 1 second off an 8:01 and an 8:05 guy. Did anyone see the race? Regardless of whether it was tactical, Cory was right up there with a class field.

David Torrence is thinking about trying the steeple - perhaps he'll be a factor.

HAHA no way
The steeple has a huge learning curve. No way he can just step in and do it (He does not have Jager talent).

Fast forward to 7:23 for some entertainment. WTH
Cory Leslie wanted to run the steeple back in high school. I've watched him since his freshman year and he looked horrible running anything longer than a mile but I knew he had the upswing and the steeplechase was a natural choice.
He's not yet as smooth looking yet like Jager or Marc Croghan but he's fierce and will get better. And he will probably run 3:35 for 1500 and that 13:43 5000 was a huge sign that he's turned the corner as a distance runner.
As a freshman I recall his dad telling me he was impressed with a Robert Gary favorite two times 5000 workout in 16:30. Only impressive to him since Cory never probably ran faster than 6:00 pace in training in high school in distances over 2 miles.
He was a blue chip high school miler and is getting better all around after graduating. Better than ever and improving.
