Rupp running 3000 tonight at Oregon Twilight and not the 800

As a fan, I'm disappointed. It's interesting to see how distance guys do when they jump into an 800, but too often they do this sort of thing. Why have him run the workout that will make his hamstrings tight before his scheduled 800?

Aww man, this is completely lame. I completely understand the reasoning behind it, but it really is a shame. So many people were looking forward to it. Ah well. Maybe next time.

I see the point as to why distance fans want to see what they can do in an 800, but because that race is almost always positive splits, add in the faster pace (borderline sprint at the start) and the 800 is a recipe to destroy tight hamstrings

At least, Rupp raced well (if any of Schumacher's boys pulled out of an 800 because of a minor issue, they would not race at all)

I'm usually one of the guys who bitches about pro runners being wimps when they pull out of races. But the fact is that Rupp and, more importantly, Salazar have proven themselves to know exactly what they're doing when they make these kinds of decisions.
