This is mentioned in a thread on the meet itself, but easy to miss.
I received a phone call from Nike Oregon Project coach Alberto Salazar a short time ago.
I missed the call, but in a voice mail Salazar said he had scratched Olympic silver medalist Galen Rupp from the 800 meters at tonight's Oregon Twilight track & field meet.
Salazar said Rupp now would run the 3,000 alongside Oregon Project teammates Luke Puskedra and Dathan Ritzenhein.
This is a change from what I reported in a blog post this morning.
Salazar said Rupp's hamstrings are tight from a recent workout, and he didn't want take the risk of having him compete in the shorter, faster race.
