Who does everyone think will be the top division three Cross country teams this fall?
Who does everyone think will be the top division three Cross country teams this fall?
My guess is that North Central, Calvin, and Neb. Wesleyan will be fighting it out in the team race. I think Borling will take individual honors this year.
borling graduated. So he's out. NCC is young but always tough. How could you forget about Lacrosse though? Lacrosse wins and everbody else fights for second.
What about Willamette? Do they have any chance of being a factor?
Calvin should win it hands-down. Look at the top outdoor times for 5000m and 10k. They're all up there and they are all coming back. Calvin will have 5 all-Americans!
Hunter College
The top ten in no particular order:
Willamette, Neb. Wes., Elizabethtown, North Central, Oshkosh, Keene St., College of NJ, Ithaca, St.Thomas, Claremont.
It's still a little too early to tell though.
What about individuals? Who are going to be the top d3 individuals this year?
I hear the entire Elizabethtown is in Flagstaff training with Wejo. I think they'll surprise everyone this year just like wejo did last year.
They have a lot of potential this year. I can see them anywhere from 4th to 12th at NCAA's. hey are not always the most consistent teams. They could lose at regionals and be top five at nationals or dominate the regional meet while placing the same as they did at NCAA's this year.
when were they ever inconsistent?
I was thinking the same thing. Other than a few injuries they were consistent all season.
The Paul Short Run comes to mind: Berdan ran well and Scott ran pretty well, to but the rest of the team didn't run as well as they did at dickinson. Their 3rd guy (Zwatty) ran 26:32 which would have been about 10th (their 11th was a couple seconds off Zwatty's time) on haverford's team that day if you add in the guys from the open race. They (441) lost to Haverford (173), to TCNJ (342), and to St lawrence (412). a week before at dickinson they would have given haverford a run for their money if the race had been combined.
e-town will not just cruise through the mid-east region...
Either way, you have to give credit where credit is due...and that is to Chris Straub. Straub took a doormat team in a weak conference and turned them into a team worthy of getting recognized in this thread. He coaches guys to awesome improvement. I know that neither Scott nor Berdan broke 17 in high school cross...now they're D-3 all-americans. Straub is a solid coach and Elizabethtown is on the rise.
why? who will give them a run?
in regards to the region, haverford aint too bad of a team, they lose a lot, but they always seem to replace and get better, i think it will be close between those two for the region title
Augustana College will break into the top 10, if they can get out of the midwest regional. They missed nationals by 6 points last year and are returning a young team.
