Why don't you recap his situation so it can be put into context.
I forget the details of his health, injuries, timeframe, etc.

Yeah, that result was shocking. Very good for him.
About 2 years ago, Solinsky was looking strong. He had recently broken 27 for 10k and 13 for 5k. He was close to running away from Lagat at the US 5,000m champs with ~4min mile. He looked like he may very well live up to the hype he was creating for himself (there was a Competitor article where he talked about getting a gold in London). Around the time of the US championships (before/after), he had been experiencing hamstring discomfort but he managed to muscle through it and continue to race strong/train train strong. BUt, a bit before world, he slipped down some stairs and when he caught himself his hamstring detached from his pelvis. It had to be reattached with some screws.
Immediately after the surgery, he made comments of returning for London but things didn't turnaround as fast as he hoped.
I, for one, am shocked by his Payton Jordan race. He may very well be competing for the US in Moscow...he's certainly proving me wrong with his comeback.
So, the surgery was in the summer of 2011, then?
When did he resume to jogging?
When did he resume to real training?

he is improving at an incredible rate
Just a reminder, this is how he ended up snapping off a major muscle group in his leg. Too much too fast. His time yesterday was great, but I hope he doesn't push himself too hard again.
Moscow Team:
5k: Rupp, Lagat, Lomong
(Bumbalough, Solinsky close behind)
10k: Rupp, Derrick, True
(Teg, Ritz tying up the last 200)
I don't think he has an increased risk of re-injuring himself. He's been running for over a year. He just wasn't running hard until recently. So, he should have enough conditioning to workout.

That makes him sound pretty arrogant. From that 2011 article:
“I want to win the 5,000 this summer,” Solinsky states. “And hopefully that sets me up and gives me enough experience and confidence going into next summer where I’m in position to contend for an Olympic gold medal."
my gosh, what do you want him to say? you people are absolute idiots.
Great interview with Chris post 5k last night.
Was just about to post that. That was a great interview; "I'm coming for you guys!"
I was perfectly fine with him saying that in the 2011 article. I was pretty psyched about it. I believe he was the first white dude under 27, I think he would of had a real shot at medaling at World's and subsequently the Olympics.
In the Diamond league race where he was bumped off the track by Merga (or whoever it was LRC concluded caused it), he looked very composed and ready to throw the hammer down before he stopped to throw the shrubbery.

Arrogant?!? What the heck are you talking about? It is arrogant to say he wants to win the 5000? That he wants to contend for Olympic gold?
Do you understand anything at all about athletic competition? Of perhaps it is the English language that you struggle with.

I see this post all the time. It gets better every time I read it though haha
I think Ben is going to shake things up in the 5000 and Ritz would have to be injured (hope not) to not make the 10K squad

Awesome run for him last night, great way to start the season. Glad to see him back in the mix. Shows a lot of grit coming back from an injury like that. I hope he stays healthy and keeps improving, he deserves it.

Reading comprehension - you need it. Some patience too. I wrote that the gentleman's comment above me make Chris sound arrogant, and I copied the line from the actual piece to show he wasn't so. Good lord you people are high-strung.
maybe even sub-13?!?!?!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
