Not a bad start for the year.

Think I just heard Jager say that he's the strongest one in the group.

Is that another way of saying that his performance stinks?

I believe he ran a 4:01 mile, about 8 seconds slower than Webb. You were saying?

You must be new here.
He is back...way back in the pack that is. For a Nike sponsored athlete, he's not up to par. He needs to hang up his running shoes.
obviously not crazy webb-fast, but looking back at the past 5 years this is pretty close to his best race at any distance during that time. I mean his best races were probably like a 3:36 1500 and a 13:30's 5k road race, both a couple years ago, and maybe also that 13:49 he did last year like 25 minutes after a 1500. But, crucially, it's his first race of the year! And he was apparently a bit banged up earlier in the year as one of his teammates said during an interview a couple months ago. A very solid result to start off the season. Wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the summer he's chasing his 5k pr.
yes he is.. wrote:

Except he looked relaxed, so you're wrong.

you're right, he looked like it was a tempo run so he was probably more in like 13:20 shape.
Not a bad start for Webb, although I was surprised that Solinsky beat him when he has been injured much longer than Webb has. Not a terrible result but definitely not the one that he wanted.
Hope he races again soon
He was asking how fast Rupp ran a 5000 in HS. Do you have an answer?

Webb and his fans should be happy with this. Someone said his last 4 laps were at about 67-8 pace, which means he was probably shutting it down a bit. When you see the W is out of reach it's hard to smash yourself.
If he gets down to 13:10 shape this year, you have to wonder if he'll jump in some 1500's. With that sort of fitness and no stress, he very well could pop off a huge 1500 as well. It's this 5000 fitness he's been lacking for a while.
Great job Webb!

13:37. And your point is?
Still a big group of runners at 6400 meters. Braun in front, Bumbalough in 3rd, Thompson 4th. All together though. No moves.
I root for Webb but I will not get excited about his chances until he runs a 13:15 or 27:30. If anyone has the talent to get back, it Webb.
I wish he stuck with Rupp and Salazar. I think he got impatient but that is just an outsider's impression. I hope it goes well with Schumacher.
He could have opted for the second section (where he would have gotten second with that time) but NO!! Webb chose to run with the big guys... showing no fear at all, I can still run with the big dogs.
Long live the King!! King Webb is back!!!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
