He ran 3:30 in the 1500 last year, which probably converts to around a 3:47 mile. So I think running a 3:47 - 3:48 mile would be expected based on his past season.

except the mile is so rarely run at the elite level, the preclassic, oslo, a meet in england and maybe 1 other.

Yeah, he also happened to be one of the few elites who were signing autographs on his victory lap. He also gave a college aged kid his bib. He was just enjoying the moment.

As someone who was there for the relays, this was by far the most fun I've had at a track meet. Great job to the meet director and HyVee for putting on such a superb meet.

I have no problem with an athlete showing enthusiasm when they run a satisfying race.

There are always detractors who criticize them, sorry detractors, I don't get it.

Track is a hard sport. You work your butt off to get somewhere. It feels good to run well and there is nothing wrong with showing it.

Why have a stick up your butt about a little celebrating? Not everyone shares the whole stoic macho silent trip.

As for Nick Willis, he's determined to be ready for Worlds. He could steal a medal, but man he's got his work cut out for him! So much talent in the 15 these days.
