It appears that Penn State isn't the middle distance powerhouse that they believe they are.

Anything can happen at nationals...it's all tactical. The fastest/best person doesn't always win. Bottom line is Penn State has the best Mid-D coach in the country...I'm sure someone will try to dispute that...easy to say sitting behind your keyboard.

From my experience, Penn State has traditionally put its heart and muscle into the Penn Relays. Lots of history is behind this emphasis, from coaches and parents and even memories of racing there in high school. This is the meet that made Harry Groves cry, after all....

Bad luck is the reason why 26 teams have done as well or better than Penn State at nationals over the last 10 years? Right! Bad luck is the reason why 46 schools have been more productive than PiSSU at nationals in the 1500?
