Another hokie gimmick as promoters try to get the attention of TV surfers. Watching track is not as sexy as watching horses run and race cars race and crash. The popular take is track comes out of hibernation once every four years.

Now these promoters will try to get USA middle distance runners and USA sprinters to high five one another. Lewis Johnson is dusting off his "How does it feel/what does it mean to you" interview questions. Tom Hammond will be his comical self.

I don't know who they have for Kenya but any of the top guys should work. 400M would be the most problematic though.

Kenya has 45.XX 400m guys. In the DMR thats maybe 1 second off the USA/other teams top guys.

Hear Charles Jock was running, maybe he is one of the 400 guys. He split 45 at Mt Sac.

I heard there are two teams. Something like symmonds, jock, and Lagat vs. wheating, and centro.

Morocco and Algeria will be tough to beat if they bring their A team this year. It would be nice to see the home team win, but they always seen to have an odd ball leg each year and with a few guys, you never know what you are going to get at this time of the year.

On the women's side, it is a slam dunk if Ethiopia brings a DMR team. Although, I guess they would have to learn how to hold a baton.

I love this kinda stuff. Relays are my favorite events, but after the HS level 4x8s or anything longer are rarely run outside of indoors.

I'd LOVE to see an OU team, something to the effect of: Centro, (Berry or maybe even Scherer?), Wheating, and Rupp.

But that's just wishful fanboy thinking

I hate to leave Lagat out, but of course, I think you've got to go with the sickest kicker for the 1600.

Therefore:

400 Solomon (safer bet than Sowinski at 400, and only marginally quicker than Symmonds at 800, if at all)

800 Symmonds (see above - part of a very close current #1/2 in the 800)

1200 Wheating (I think this is the most obvious of the picks)

1600 Centrowitz (Again, sickest kicker mandatory and that man is now Centro. Lagat is a clever, clever racer but I don't think that gets him a spot over Centro these days.)

It usually takes Lagat a few races to round into shape, too. He sucked at Penn the last time he ran. I'd give Centro the nod on the 1600m, put an actual 400m guy in there, run Wheating in the 1200m and Solomon in the 800m. That would leave Symmonds, another 400m guy, Sowinski, and Lagat for the second relay, which definitely ain't bad.

German Fernandez has also confirmed that he will be running the USA DMR.

Assume it will be one of the 1200 or 1600 legs.

Yea Lewis and Tom Hammond are awful and such is the way with track and field except every 4th summer when you would think Track and Field hero's are GODLY like.

Penn is cool and I love the DMR more. Hopefully the 1200 goes out super fast ( sub 2:50) to set a up a great time

The lead off and anchor legs at the top level are often tactical.
