Some background information: I'm 13, in the 8th grade, 5'9, and 103 lbs. So, I ran xc this fall. I'd always been an ok runner, with 7:30 mile times in the p.e. mile day, but I decided to really try to see how good I could be. I trained hard, and discovered that the 5k was my favorite distance. But, middle schoolers run two miles. I was a 12:30 2 miler, with a pr of 6:02 in a 1600. (That was at the beginning of the season, and I haven't timed myself in a mile since then, so I could probably break 6 now.) My 5k pr was 19:56. That would've been good enough to make the state roster in high school (top 8). With soccer right after xc ended, I ran everyday, but I didn't "train". I just ran during soccer practice. I've decided to give up soccer in high school and just do track and xc. When I begin to really train again on my own during the summer, and for the rest of my xc career, what could my ceiling be in the 5k? Any help is appreciated. Remember, all of this came off of four months of running 4 days, with no prior running beforehand. I feel like I'm at the floor of my abilities right now.
