Brea Olinda was pretty impressive in general as the had an 11th grader go 4:16 and a senior go 4:18 in the same race yesterday. Pretty rare for a school to have 3 sub 4:20 kids.

if he is 15, he just turned 15.

Interesting. If correct, then definitely not the case of being on the old side for your grade...saw some pictures and he looks like a pretty typical freshman. Should be interesting to watch his future development.

Not sure, but they had kids in the frosh/soph race at 4:28 and 4:29. Maybe the question should be, how fast are their returning 3 through 7 guys?

Yes, if their #4 guy is only a 4:28 guy, then they have no shot at the 4xmile HS record this year (from 1976). If the #4 guy was a 4:20-4:21 type guy, then perhaps... Otherwise, let's see how they all develop over the next year...

Century League is insanely fast this year with the 3 Brea guys, another from Canyon, One from El Modena and the fastest one from Villa Park.

Austin turned 15 last November.

He is older than the average (half of all freshman are) but he's not old for the northeast by any means. There are very few states, believe Cali might be the only one where he'd be in the wrong grade age wise. You'll always have a legit 1 year range.

He does not look like he's in 7th grade at all. He's like 5'10" and looks like a Sophomore or Junior. He is almost 16 and is incredibly mature as a runner. He is very experienced with club running and will likely to be slow to progress his way down to sub 4 (but probably will do it by his senior year if he can stay healthy).

Jake Ogden of Dana Hills on the other hand looks like he is a true Freshmen and has a lot more room to grow.
