Hall's London PR is 2:06:17 from 2008.
Everyone knows he loves to run his own pace.
Could he possibly run a PR by himself- just running his own pace like he loves to do?
The most race hyped race in history goes out on WR pace. Everyone blows up. Hall passes one, then two, etc.
Imagine if he mowed down the field doing that. It would have been real interesting at the end.
Men: Official Results
1. Tsegaye Kebede ETH 2:06:04
2. Emmanuel Mutai KEN 2:06:34
A tiny PR and he's got the victory.
Totally out of the question??

Imagine if a in-form Ryan Hall had run London this year...

As much as I would have loved for this to happen, we would undoubtedly hear a whole bunch of "glory be to god", "I felt gods might", and "god is so great" in post-race interviews for WEEKS.

Hall is a 2:04 guy. He would have easily won today. -

No, he's a 2;04 guy with a tail win.
And by your logic, then how do you explain what happened to all of the 2:03 guys today. -
He is soooo overrated! Ryan Hall? Ryan Who more like.
-
Hall loves to run his own pace but the problem with Hall is he frequently believes that he can also run world record pace. He's one of the most delusional runners out there. He surely would have gone out in world record pace and also blown up. After the race he'd say that he felt world record pace was his pace that day but God just didn't want it for him that day.
-
Hall is a shadow of what he was. Now he is contented to just run comfortable pace comfortably behind the leaders and just finish. I have never seen a win-at-all-cost mentality from this guy. He is very gifted but doesn't have the drive that others have.
-
guess what? he ISN'T in shape. deal with that because it is the reality of his running career.
-
Hall in peak form would have run 2:10 today.

Not sure what a "tail win" is but a win is a win. -
Imagine if Ryan Hall went with the other runners and hit world record pace at the half and then even picked it up to be the first human to break 2 hours and then at the finish line Jesus walks out from the crowd and congratulates HIS runner and all 4 Beatles miraculously show up and play some songs with Elvis and then world peace etc. etc.

That would be pretty cool. I'd take it. Marathoning would be more popular. -

I think that's when you back across the line first, butt-first -
Rojo- I understand your logic, but why go there? Hall hasn't run a good marathon in a while now, and I'm not sure it's fair to him or the other Americans (Hartmann) to hypothesize on Hall pr'ing right now, much less winning a major. No, it wouldn't be totally out of the question, but highly unlikely to materialize. Don't get me wrong, because I like Hall, but I don't see him being the one to break through and legitimately compete with the east Africans.

Not out of the question at all. It is one of the few times where someone who races like Hall could capitalize. Generally running alone in a major race, or with only Jesus' footsteps silently falling next to you, is indicative of someone who doesn't understand the laws of physics. Today that sort of ignoramus could have had his day.
Love Ryan Hall, hope he gets healthy, and stops running "his race" in majors and starts running "the race" instead. -
No chance
All those top runners are not running slow for no reason other than the fast early pace -

Whatever changed in the PED testing must be working. -
Lol that's Rojo's point. Everyone blew up, and Hall, if running his own race, would've caught a lot of the people who were paying the price of a fast start.

got to go with this answer. he isn't racing and hasn't raced well for a while. -

I don't know. Hall loves to run up front. I'm not sure he has the discipline to back off in the first half and stick to his race plan. I see him cratering like the front runners did.
