i can't really see point of kiprop moving upto to M this early
it likely means he's given up on the track 10k, when he still had at least a coupla good years left
still, woudn't be surprised if the winner out of the top 2 doesn't also go a 2"04 ( as london is expected )

Agreed he has more to do in the 10,000 but unfortunately more money to be made from 2:05:xx than 26:4x or even faster. Plus Kenyan selection is such a crapshoot he could focus on the race for three years and still not go to the Olympics.
he is so smooth. can easily go 2:02 with a few more under his belt. recall how Geb struggled before he got it right.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's running 2:03 within the next two years!

I think today's events showed that 2:02 does not come as easily to the world's top marathoners as they thought.

Yeah, no doubt a 2:02 will be like a jog in the park for this guy.
Ahem
Great first marathon for Eliud Kipchoge.
Kipchoge is a great athlete, one of my favorites since 2003 with his world title at a young age. Still, this is a REALLY IMPRESSIVE debut!
very strong debut, must rank highly and a 62:18 finish with 6:31 for last 2.195k with no one anywhere near, very impressive. quite the shot to run in the 2:03s with comp and experience at the distance.
