Amy Begley Interview - Interesting Comments On Salazar

Wow!!

So after Begley makes the Olympic team, her own Coach Alberto Salazar doesn't talk to her for 2 weeks because her move "cost Kara the win"?!?!

The move Begley had to make to have any shot at getting the A standard to get on the team...

The only thing that cost Kara Goucher the win at the 2008 Olympic Trials was Shalane Flanagan being way better than her.

Perhaps, although as good as Shalane was, I still think Goucher would have taken her if it was a jog-fest until the last 400. The fact that Amy started stretching it out from far out certainly didn't help Kara's chances. On second thought, as I now recall, didn't Shalane herself make a long surge from like 1200 out? In which case you're right, there's very little Goucher could have done to win.

My god! Salazar is one of the worst people in the world. He claims to be such a christian. No amount of lying or cheating coming out of that camp would surprise me. And this has been going on for over 30 years. Remember what a complete jerk he was to Jeff Nelson.

If Metta World Peace didn't give Kobe the ball with 5 seconds left on the clock like the coach said to, wouldn't you expect him (the coach) to be pissed too?

Yeah, Kobe is one of the world's biggest ball hogs.

Track, not really a team sport. Salazar has no right to expect Amy to sacrifice her future in order to prop up his. He is horrible.

That would work if this was a DMR and she tried to set the 1200m record or something, but in individual trials it's every (wo)man for himself.
