Bump
Being very liberal here, as 3 x 1000m is not a great predictor:
4:40-low
10:05-10:20
I'm guessing that was an easy workout for you... When I ran only 4:46 (full mile) I would usually smoothly cruise from 3:10 down to 3:05 with 2:00 rest and then do another quality workout the next day. Perhaps I just had less speed than you.
What do you suggest is a good workout that can give me a Better idea where I stand as of this week? Don't have a meet for another 10 days
Actually speed is what I lack most, my 800 pr is 2:17 but my stamina and legs felt good enough to do an easy 5 miler at 8:30 pace 5 hours later
400 repeats tend to be the best indicator for the mile (or the 1600m).
Try 8-10 x 400m with 2 minute rest. As a younger runner, if you can keep true to your rest and pace; whatever you average should be a true indicator to what you can run.
Do it sooner than later though! This is an exhausting workout.
Alright in going to do this tomorrow and post my results, thanks!
Good luck! Try to do 10, if you can. Keep them even if you can too (at whatever your perceived mile time is). Don't go out too hard, but also don't wuss out at the end.
Don't worry about using the full 2 minutes rest. Just don't cheat it.
Alright I did the workout today,
Here are my times
65,68,70,71,71,71,73,73,72,71
First one some guy was doing the exact same workout on the track and asked me to run his last rep with him so I started it off too fast, overall I felt good but not cruising. 2 minutes exact rest every time.
Did this a day after my 3x1k workout posted above+ a 5 mile run last night.
Gonna run an easy 5 tonight.
