Ben True has the course record on the Derryfield park course, one of the toughest courses out there for high school runners. There's a good chance true says this course is so hard is just cause he felt that's what people wanted to hear.
Derryfield, while not fast, is not close to being one of the toughest courses out there for high school runners (unless it's very short).

Yes, XC in England are very often run on very challenging courses. This one was very challenging for a world XC champ. I doubt that the Kenyan would have won on a flat dry course. He was phenomenal on the uphill (and downhill), was excellent in he turns and was very good in the mud.
His short stature and light built was a real advantage.
The course made the race entertaining.

I'm confused by this thread. Are you doubting the fact that he thinks this is the hardest course he's seen in his life? I'm pretty sure he'd know that better than you. More likely you're purposely misinterpreting his statement to be that "this is the hardest course ever, anywhere in the world" as an excuse for some chest-thumping about how tough you are.
If they made Hereford High School's course into a 6 miler/10k on a muddy day, it would be 1000x harder than the world xc course.
