I once wore a pair of Nike free run 1's for 13 months. This included three competitive seasons of training, where my peak mileage was as high as consistently in the 70's 86, and even a few road races. And 95% of the mileage was on pavement/concrete. Obviously, I was wearing spikes for most workouts.
Surprisingly, they were the most durable shoes I have ever owned, despite the minimal upper and absence of rubber outsoles. I attribute their longevity to a cold and snowy winter, because running on snow and ice seemed to wear down the mid and outsole considerably less than in hot weather. The last month or so, my feet started to get aches in all kinds of strange places, and I knew that it was time to get a new pair. The insoles had holes worn in them too, lol.
