Does Tom Cruise run funny?

Every actor in an action movie runs like that.

I was watching the latest Mission Impossible movie and noticed that (a) Tom Cruise seems to run in every movie he's in and (b) there is something *odd* about how he runs. Am I out of my mind? Here are some thoughts

* He runs with his hands straight (karate style), rather than clenched into fists. Definitely odd, but is that all there is?

* Maybe he's actually a really *good* runner and he only looks weird when compared with other actors.

Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone have any idea why it might be true?

Yeah, there's a scene in every one of his movies where he's sprinting like a mad man. And yes, his run is pretty hilarious. It's like he's high-stepping. It's probably because he's like 4'8".

Yeah I've definitely noticed this. His stride is really choppy and he kind of brings his knees up and around. Hard to describe but it reminds me the last 100 of a 1500 when your legs kind of cramp up and feel like led so you start bringing them around and taking shorter steps.

He takes pretty choppy steps. Also, his arm swing is cut off (his hands never really get very high). Perhaps actors are taught to "run" like this so that their face is never obscured?

pretty funny for sure, but a good movie runner. yes, it's as if he's in the painful last ditches of a hard effort each time, except that the implication is he's enduring that gut-rending pace for a long while.

he could use a little more relaxation and flexibility (maybe his pants are limiting) but i think what you get is a guy that seems fit but doesn't run as his primary activity and is operating on adrenaline and whatnot.

was watching early x-files episodes and forgot how much they incorporated duchovny running (intervals or something on a track), then on a runway in hiking boots. i thought he'd look quicker on the runway.

begs the usual question: fastest dudes in hollywood, sprint and distance.

For me it's his gritted teeth that make him look funny but I consider him the best movie runner. :D
