he has no clue what he wants to do.

Seems like he's the dwight howard of track and field.
Dwight Howard aint confused, he just likes lots of women! especially blonds.
Didn't Demps ran 10.01 100 meters in high school and hasn't come close to matching that time since?
He's not good enough to play in the NFL anyway. Good and mighty Christ, he wasn't even a great college player.

No, he went 10.01 with 1.7 in HS and has two 9.96's with 2.4 and 2.5, 10.04 with a 0.7. He's also run 6.52.
Demps thought he was going to be an NFL star. Not going to happen at 5'7" and 175 pounds. He is just another great HS track athlete who thought football was his sport.
He will likely find something else to do with his life --difficult to swallow as that may be for him. It won't be football, and track doesn't seem to hold his interest.
He gets injured too much in football. I would love to see him focus on track full time and live up to his potential.
Demps has one shot at football left ever. Right now. If he doesn't make it this fall then he should look to track. At best he is a $75k a year contract guy for someone as he has never broken 10 wind legal and has history of hamstring injuries.
He would be smart to make most of whatever opportunity he has in NFL for money's sake and then if he is cut and no other team shows interest then come back to track. To try both is not gonna fly with any NFL team so he is stupid to risk it if harbors any desire to play football.

Hmm I don't know about that. Look at Trindon Holliday . He is shorter and lighter then Demps and did great with the Broncos. Demps could be a deadly kick off returner
if you have followed his career, he has made this announcement, and the opposite announcement on MANY occasions.
first he was a football guy who ran track, then he was giving up track, then he was going to do both, then he was going to give up football and just do track, then he went back to football, now he says he wants to do both again.
funny how he says he will represent USA in track, like that is guaranteed through an announcement.
he is a contrarian. what ever he is currently supposed to be doing, he says he WANTS to do the other, thereby never having to succed at either because he always uses the smoke an mirrors of the other sport to distract from his current, just below excellent ability.
There's no way he's 175. I'll say 168.
The NFL is full of speedy guys who are far more durable, and from the sounds of it, far more reliable. There are a few little guys who've had success as a return specialist (Trindon Holliday, Dante Hall, etc), but Demps needs to realize that he's likely to have a better career on the track than on an the gridiron.
That being said, it would be hard to pass on the earnings potential that comes with being an NFL player. So Jeff, stick with football, get a contract or two, and do everything possible in the name of self-preservation. Maybe he runs post-football (although probably not), and even if he doesn't, who cares? Football sounds like his passion, so he should pursue it. If he really wants to do both, he should to and get traded to the Raiders. They love underachieving speedsters. Does Demps really think BB gives one shite about his track career?
pick football, bulk up to 185.
if he manages to stay healthy, he could become a great returner/3rd down back/utility gadget guy
even if he only lasts 3 seasons the money is alot better than track
Brandon Banks - 5'7", 149lbs when he entered the NFL (153lbs now). Still playing for the Redskins (not sure of his contract status, though) as a pretty decent return guy.

Didn't Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders both play football and baseball? Why can't an athlete do football and track? Track and Baseball are both summer sports.

I've always thought about this too as the seasons sync up well - football ends in February at the latest, so you can run from February to June, and if you make the worlds team, til August, if not go to training camp. I think the problem is coaches prefer you focus on football, so unless you're really good (as Deion, Bo, Brian Jordan, etc were) they won't compromise with you.
Also why are so many people acting like he has no future in track? He made the Olympic relay (prelim), which means he even has a medal to his name, team didn't he?
He might not be beating Bolt any time soon but if you can break 10 surely you can make it in track.
Eff the NFL.
He will last a few years there and have his body broken down and lose his speed.
Stick with track if he can make a decent payday.
Demps is making about 400-500 a year in the NFL, basically bottom of the pile.
Lets say he lasts 4 years at 500K and pulls in about 2.5M from pay as well as endorsements and such.
He needs to weigh that approximate figure with what he can make in track. If I were him I would stay with football.
