Hey man, it is an AR, even at an event that is not often contested.
Don't act like that is not thread worthy.
The record won't count because it was run on a 300m over-sized track. Unfortunate.
Agree. He runs great 600's etc and even a super fast 400 carry but when it comes to an important 800 he folds up like a cheap suit. 1:15.42 is flying though. Will not count 300 oversized track.
I think the 600 AR should be under 1:15 by now.
A white guy from Notre Dame ran 46.1 on that track last week, and another one ran 60.xx for 500m (and lost). That track is a huge advantage. 1:15.42 is impressive, but Loxsom is never there when it counts, and seems only to impress at weird distances and indoors.

It isn't an AR because it is 1) a non-contested regular event on an 2) oversized track. Also 3) there is no USATF approval process for the 600m event.
Penn State should stick with trying to break Guinness Book of World records.
As many poster have said, Loxsom and his buddies at PU won't be around when it counts in June. For all of the boasting and spamming the message boards that the PU crowd does about their middle-distance crew, historically they have had only 12 middle-distance runners make it into an NCAA final in the last 70 years! That's only happened twice since 1994.

Geez people, even if it is a weird distance on an oversize track, it's still pretty cool. And who cares what he does or doesn't do in outdoor - he did something cool recently, and that seems thread-worthy.

Yes, good point. Because obviously a 1:15.42 600m equates to a sub-1:42.60 and will make him faster than Johnny Gray ever was.Too bad there are no 700m outdoor tracks, because then Loxsom would be a lock to break the AR!!!

Some of the "fans" here on this web-site seem to have their favorites and they have a tendency to show it by knocking those that aren't their favorites. They don't respect the sport, training or effort required to create these performances because they haven't done anything noteworthy themselves to understand at a level beyond a loose, ignorant comment.
This is just a common, weird outlook on the effort by those that are actually hanging it out there. The funny thing is, the atheltes are usually pretty supportive of each other. Much unlike fans who seem divided like this was some kind of NBA, NFL, MLB situation where you can pick a side, act like you are some kind of loyal fan and not even know the names of the players.
its is a very nice time, loxsom ran 1:16.0 last year maybe faster and high 45 relay carry which is sick for a 800 guy, but when it comes big races it looks like he runs with a piano on his back. Need a NCAA title

Actually it was set at Glaspalast Sindelfingen which is not 400m. Still a nice run
Loxsom is on fire this winter. Good on him, hopefully he can extend his luck to the championships.

You might have a point if it wasn't for PSU's obnoxious fans bragging about their middle distance corps all the time. If you can back it up it isn't bragging, they say. PSU can't back it up.
Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, Minnesota and Iowa all have a much better MD history than PSU. Do you see their fans spamming the message boards? What about Villanova or U Penn, both in state schools have a better MD history than PSU. Why aren't they so desperate for attention that they spam the message boards like PSU?
You can sum up PSU's middle distance success with 12 names. It isn't the 80s any more.

How do you figure that even if one of these athletes passes the 600 at 1:15, he is going to break the AR 800. Are you saying that Loxsom (Sowinski, Solomon or other recent 600 record holders) only gave an 800 effort to run 1:15 and has a ton left in the tank for the last 200? It's a completely different scenario because you have to first be in shape to gain that performance, then you have to be on schedule for it to actually happen during the race. Have any of these guys run an 800 this season so far that leads you to believe that they are at that level of fitness? The indoor season is rapidly coming to a conclusion.
I am in agreement with you. My "Some" was directed toward the PSU fans and those that go after guys like Sowinski, Solomon etc... just because they stepped to the front of the line. Instead of celebrating great performances, "some" people have a tendency to try and drag others down to their level.
