Prosecution need to get their act together before the trial or he's not going to jail
He's not a flight risk and probably gets house arrest. Nothing more to see here until the trial next year....
This doesn't seem like a surprise. I doubt he is much of a flight risk and having not been convicted of anything in the past (from what I know), doesn't appear to be a danger to others.
This had nothing to do with whether he was innocent or guilty of murder (he has already admitted to killing her). Remember that this bail hearing was within 1 week of the incident so neither side had much time to prepare.
Anyone know what bail was set at?
At R250k, according to his lawyer.
That's ~$28k.
For a premeditated murder charge, you get bailed for the price of a well equipped 2013 Ford Taurus.
And the judge said one of the reasons he wouldn't be a flight risk is because he wouldn't want to forfeit his bail money...

Interesting, I figured he wouldn't be much of a flight risk because he was so recognizable that it would be almost impossible for him to go anywhere without the media (and the twitter world) being all over it.
Never mind, bail is 1M rand, but only 10% needs to be paid up front.
Upon payment of the 100,000 rand he must be released with the following conditions:
• He appears in court on 4 June at 8.30am.
• He surrenders all passports.
• He refrains from applying for any passports.
• He refrains from entering any airport.
• He surrenders all firearms.
• He refrains from possessing any firearms.
`• He refrains from talking to any witnesses for the prosecution.
• He will have a probation officer and correctional official from the date of release until the conclusion of the case.
• He shall inform the official all his movements and ask for permission for any journeys outside Pretoria.
• He shall give them a phone number and must be contactable day and night.
• He must not be charged with an offence of violence against women.
• He must not use drugs or alcohol.
• He must not return to his home and not make contact with any residents of his estate except the Stander family.
Upon hearing the original detective assigned to the case was up on murder charges and apparently out on bail and working, I thought OP had a good shot at getting bail.
first for
Will he have to wear an ankle monitor? That'll keep track of him
• He surrenders all firearms.
No legs and unarmed. Dude's a sitting duck.
He's gonna top himself
He's guilty--he got bail--- he's a national hero---he'll get off.

Unlike OJ we know he killed her. It's only a matter of what he gets convicted of.
Anyone from S. Africa have an insight into the justice system?
How long should he wait before dating again?
Ridiculous what people can do and get off so easily. and If his blades werent enough of an advantage, he also thought he would take steroids too.
This case tells you so much about how rotten to the core the South African police and justice system are. How many innocent people without the financial means of OP have been framed by corrupt officers? How many guilty criminals have avoided incarceration simply because of who they bribed or knew?

I think the detective assumed it was steroids but it was some legal "supplement".

He is just out on bail (or will be). The trial hasn't even started yet. All that has happened is there was a bail hearing.
Many people get bail even when charged with murder.
If I was Oscar Pistofforious this is what I would do...
Because the chance of getting life in prison is very high.....
I would start injecting myself with Steroids and EPO and training harder than ever before.. and go for the 400 meter world record...
If he gets caught for EPO and drug use it's what??? a 4 year suspension?? who cares when you're most likely going to get 25 years in prison anyway.
Make yourself famous Oscar....
