1500m
1500m
Yep give it up.
Actually I would think it would depend on the person, obviously.
Hell no. I ran my best 1500m races at age 30/31. It depends on how much you squeezed out of your body/potential when you were a young buck.
It's also not too late to learn how to spell 'too' and 'you.'
what standard were you mondo?
Only a 3:56 high dude (for 1500m), but I ran that at 30.
I ran 3.53 last year for a pb at 29. Previous PB was 3.54 at 22. Didn't break 4 in intervening years for various reasons.
I've only managed 3.55 this year, but reckon I've got another shot at a low 3.50s in a couple of weeks.
Whether you can set PBs depends on how fast you ran previously, and how hard you had to work for that. I reckon I've got another three or four years to improve in over 1500, if I want to. I reckon I could keep knocking down my 5 and 10k times for a few more years after that
no, just use tgh.
im 28 and a 3:43 guy and my training partner is 31(3:44). Ive never ran over 50mls per week, so hopefully adding 25-30 should take me under 3:40, so ive got about 3 years to do it.

ouch that hurt
there must be more 1500m runners out there, with a view
I'm 31 and can probably run a PR in the 1500 within the next year, however that's mainly because I don't have a very good PR vrs my previous potential. Even then, a fast 1500 now would only make me regret not having trained harder for one when I was younger.
Go for the 5000. You still have 7 or 8 years left for some great performances there. You're old and distinguished. Don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole.
best example i can think of is Irelands Marcus O Sullivan who ran his PB at 34y (i think). And he was competitive his whole career.
Anybody ever heard of a guy named Jason Pyrah??? He ran 3:35 and 1:46 at 31 in 2000. Both were PRs and he was also an Olympic finalist for the first time.
Coolrunner - where are you training, and why haven't you ever run over 50 mi/wk?
uk, because im to lazy. But this will change, will move up to 70+.
Coe PRed at age 30, 3:29 I think.
Oh to be 31 again!
Mid 20's - 3:43.00
Around 30 - 3:42.80
41 - 3:46.49
42 - 3:48.8
Hoping to run under 3:45 next year at 43, if I train smarter this off season!
Life sometimes gets in the way!

certainly ain't too late supposin you started running at age 30
M(don't take this guy too seriously)F
Tony,
Last year you said you wanted to chase the Masters 1000 and 2000 outdoor records, What are they? and what are your plans in regards to those records?
Do you plan on competing in the World's next year in San Sebastion?
What will your mileage be in the off-season?
