I think I heard Cain is running the 800 at New Balance indoor. She ran 2:03 as a freshman outdoors and I think she has 55 400 speed. Could she break Decker's indoor 800 record? Or Gallagher's outdoor record?
She might as well go for it. That would be more of a challenge than anything she can still do in the 1500, mile, 3k, or 2M -- at least as far as records go.
I have her at about 2:01 right now. If she stays healthy, sub 2:00 before graduation is a done deal, maybe even this year. Her closing lap at Millrose was in 30, a very good sign.
with the sharp turns indoors, she'd probably run 2:01 or so. Outdoors she is capable of 1:58.5 flat.
I'm assuming her 400 speed as come down to 54 flat and she runs 4:25.x 1600 outdoors.

I am going to assume you are joking. Based on her improvement, I would say 2:02.
IAAF Points table has a 1:59.97 the same points as 4:06.53/4:25.26. Also, the 1:59 might take more speed than she has at this point. I suspect that she will do her first 800 (or two) as speed work for the 1500/mile; to get down to 4:02/4:20+ she might need a bit more speed and be able to hold it longer. She could hold the next lower speed set and finish fast, but she will need to pull that up a level.
I do not think an outdoor track will be that much faster because a time-trial race on a good indoor track does not cost you much at that speed.

Didn't she solo/wire-to-wire win a 2:03.2 last year outdoors in a howling wind? And that was around the time she was running 4:16.
She's in 4:08 shape now, so if she just goes for it and doesn't mess around in traffic, I can see 2:00-2:01. Sub-2 would be amazing.

If Cain is running a 1500, runs a sub-2 first 800 and quits before finishing the 15, does the 800 mark count, assuming the 800 is FAT?
Ajee Wilson's indoor and outdoor PRs are 2:04.13 and 2:00.91, respectively. I would use these as rough benchmarks.
Unlikely that she's doing the speedwork at this point to improve at 800. A sub 2:03 would be great indoors and she will have a great shot at sub 2 outdoors this year and surely get it next year.
I sure hope she doesn't break 2:00 anytime soon. My ego really doesn't need a HS girl beating ALL of my lifetimes PR's!
MC will not be running NBNI at the Armory..... The USATF meet will be her last meet indoors......she's tired.
