Like Rojo said, no one is talking about Ryan Hill.
He is unbelievably consistent and has run some incredible times, yet goes under the radar. I know letsrun hates 'what if's" but think about this....
- A rule change and he'd be the indoor 3k record holder (maybe just the american record, couldn't find the list)
- 10-20 more meters he may have been on the Olympic 5k team
- Aside from foreigners and a 26 year old, he is the faster collegiate miler EVER.
A lot of those are hypothetical and I understand somewhat ridiculous, just meant to stir up conversation on someone who is literally never talked about.
Why is no one talking about Ryan Hill

Saying that he is literally not talked about is wrong. If he is talked about at least once, are wrong. He has been talked about at least one. You are wrong.
You are literally using the word literally wrong. -
I mean, if we're going to start being d-cks, you could at least make sure you don't forget a word in your second sentence.
Prior to my post, I didn't see his name on the first page. So I literally did not see anyone talking about him. I appreciate the candor, though. -

Todd Harbour ran 3:50.34 as collegiate. Hill has gone faster than that? -
You said he's 'literally never talked about'. That doesn't just include recently on the front page of Letsrun.com. That means that he's never been talked about in the history of the universe. Which is not true at all.

Guys, I'm a 24 year old bored at work. I'm not interested in semantics or arguing about how poorly I wrote my first post. I've followed Ryan for a few years and shocked at how little fan fare he gets. That's all. By all means, if correcting grammar or belittling someone gets you off, go for it.
Not sure about Harbour - if he ran 3:50 how could O'Hare have just set a new collegiate record (^ this guy screwed up! yell at him!)? -

He has the same problem Bobby Mack does. Nothing really interesting about generic white dude from the South running fast times. Not an insult against him. He's run BLAZING times, but not the most intriguing character hence the lack of threads/publicity. -
(in before i get double-teamed again)
I know, I know....indoors -
Hill is one of my favorite runners: extremely talented, candid in interviews, and a super cool dude. Flotrack gives him plenty of props and dubbed his astonishing kick the "ninja-kick." I was pretty shocked that he ran 3:54 though. He's going to be in the hunt this summer to make the world's team in the 5k and should run sub 13:20. Don't forget he ran 13:27 at the trials closing in 55.x.

He is good and he has a very good finish. Can he take the next step in terms of both NCAA and USATF championship events? Possibly, but it is a stiff challenge. He is good enough to get some funding, I would guess, especially if he gets and NCAA title (or almost, given the level of competition).

Actually, the definition of literally has been changed.
Literally:
Adverb
1. In a literal manner or sense; exactly: "the driver took it literally when asked to go straight over the traffic circle".
2. Used to acknowledge that something is not literally true but is used for emphasis or to express strong feeling. -
Oh come on, he's run better college times already than Jager, Derrick, Bumbi, German, Puskedra, Heath...all of those are on major pro teams making money. Hell, his college PR in the 3000 is literally - and I think I'm using this correctly - 10 seconds faster than Bumbi's was. Granted, everyone develops at a different pace, so maybe people think he's developed faster than, say, Bumbi or GF. But the guy, if he can win some titles this year, is one of the fastest American collegates of all time.

Yes. From now on we will be using the word 'literally' figuratively. -
It's not a matter of you being bored, or us being d!cks, it's just a matter of you using the word "literally". Why even put it in there when you know it's not true? It baffles me.
It's like saying Galen Rupp is the fastest runner ever instead of saying Galen Rupp is a fast runner. -

Just a small quibble (and at least not a grammatical one), Hill's 5000 PR is 13:26.34, which is well more than 10-20 meters from the 13:20.00 A standard he would have needed to be on the Olympic team. -

Are you sure that's "well more" than 10-20 meters? -
Never heard of him.
I have heard of Ryan Hall though. -

First of all, it's idiotic to say that Hill ran better college times than Jager, even if it's literally true. Jager ran one season of college track (he was injured and redshirting his first fall season), in which he was an All American in the 1500m. Following that season, he ran 3:54 in the mile and 13:22 in his (2nd? 3rd?) ever 5k to qualify for the world championships team. So yeah, Hill ran faster 'in college' but Jager ran significantly faster at a YOUNGER age. Stupid comment on your part. Also: Jager last year would've been the same age/same year as Hill this year. So, at the SAME age that Hill is a 3:54 and 13:27 runner, Jager was a 8:06 steeplechaser and 7:35 flat 3k runner, with 3 year old PRs of 3:54 and 13:22 set as a 20 year old. So again, dumb point.
Derrick too was "faster" than Hill in the distance they overlapped, running 13:19 indoors as a 21 year old, as well as 27:31 outdoors, compared to Hill's 13:27 outdoors.
Before you start making wild comparisons, at least make sure they're right. -
I like Hill. He seems like the forgotten man because he is often close but not the star. For example, I think he was 4th in US JR cross when German won. I think he will get a contract. Not sure where he fits in. What is his best pro distance? 10000?
