Allyson Felix went this way a couple of years ago. They (Felix family) didn't like the offer that Adidas made. So Allyson ran unattached from Nov to March of that year and actually signed with Nike during the WC in Doha. Kerron Clement went through that and ended up signing with Nike for the offer he originally didn't want. Asafa Powell went from Nike to Li Ning in China.
