Here's the relay. It is a 25 lap (10,000 meters) race with four people per team. Here's the catch. Every runner only needs to run lap, and handoffs can occur at any time (provided it is at the start finish line). Who ya got? and what is your strategy?

I take one 400 meter runner. Michael Johnson, and three 1500/5k guys. El Garrouj, Kiprop, and Daniel Komen. They run 400 meter repeats until a fresh Michael Johnson takes the bell lap.

What do you think? And what is the winning time? My guess about 23:30

Replace Johnson with a 400/800 guy, have him run laps 1, 9, 17, 25. Replace the other 3 with 800/1500 guys who alternate every lap, except laps 7-8, 10-11, and 23-24 will be run by the same runner (each takes a turn at doubling up).

I would have each guy run 200 meters and then hand off. I would have El G and Lagat run 13 each and Rudisha and Kipketer run 12 each. Rudisha would anchor. I would think they would be able to run in the 21-22 minute range.

They have to run at least a full lap.. No hand offs at 200 meters
