Interval work in a graveyard -- immoral??

I run through cemeteries. I just ran through one on Sunday in a heavy snow. There was a truck parked toward one edge of the cemetery with someone visiting a grave, so I stayed plenty far from them so as not to bother them. I've never had any problems. Just be respectful.

Life goes on. Ed Whitlock does all his running in a cemetery.

Can't imagine there is some pace that becomes disrespectful.

Easy jog through cemetery = fine

workout = ehhh no. I wouldn't do it

At Mason I did 800m repeats for years.

It was weird at first but became normal.

What better place to celebrate life by banging out hard mileage than a graveyard?

Seriously, there's a stupid preoccupation with death. All you're doing is running over decomposing bodies, that are simply atoms changing form in the universe. I used to avoid spitting while running in cemeteries. Even that was silly.

I used to do my morning run through a grave yard everyday. I don't think its wrong but I would be respectful of people visiting graves. If you are running by someone mourning that is kinda messed up.

Don't do interval workouts in the f-ing cemetery.

Wait until you have someone being turned into cosmic energy (?) there. What would you honestly think?

Find someplace else.

We had official work outs in the graveyard behind Mac Court.

Great place to run. Gravel, soft. Not to far from Hayward.

Yeah, but he is half in the grave so it is different. OP is a young guy. They just think Ed is a ghost.

Cemeteries are supposed to be a place of peaceful and quiet mourning. For this reason, I think it's fine to do an easy run in a cemetery and avoid areas with mourners. Workouts with 15 people seem intrusive. Perhaps a workout by yourself or one other person, if you try to stay quiet and avoid others, would be fine. I'm guessing 15 people aren't too quiet during a workout. I've done easy runs in graveyards before, but if I was mourning the death of a loved one, I'd rather be allow and not have people running around. It's a grey area.

To the guys spitting in the cemetery. You're going to hell. At the very least, I hope the guy you spit on comes back and haunts you.

I have been to known to stick empty Gu packets to headstones.

Ya I'd say easy runs would be fine, but that group work outs is pushing it. The key is being able to change route if you see someone who looks like they're mourning. With easy runs that's no prob but when you're working out with a group (or by yourself) it makes it tough to change course when you're doing a measures distance.

I say this but I used to cruise a graveyard on my long board all the time. We were always respectful and tried to give people they're space when I saw them.

I have a similar scenario. Near my house there is a nice 2mile road alongside a lake that has a dead end. At the dead end is a mental health center that specialized is eating disorders (anorexia. bulimia) so there are are always a bunch of unstable skinny people around there. Well if you run through the campus (on the driveways and parking lots, about 1/4mile) you come out on a road that goes up the other side of the lake and then you can make the route a 7mile loop around the lake.

My wife, who actually did a nursing clinical at this same hospital in college, thinks it is inappropriate to run through there. Am I immoral?
